Room to Ride offers instruction in a variety of riding disciplines including:
Emphasis is placed on individuals who want to understand and feel their horse while they ride. During their lesson, students are taught horsemanship as well as riding. Horsemanship involves teaching our students to properly groom and tack the horse. We also allow time to warm-up with the horse before the riding portion of the lesson begins. The lesson concludes with the student cooling down the horse by walking the horse out and sometimes hosing the horse off.

Colors of Riding (COR) Program
Beginning in 2009, Room To Ride introduced a new structured lesson program: Colors of Riding. This new program combines the experience of riding a horse with the knowledge gleaned from enrichment activities, such as completing worksheets covering topics ranging from identifying grooming tools to explaining the importance of proper hand and leg positioning. The program is optional, accommodating those riders who are serious and eager to learn as much as possible about horses. It is meant to provide students and parents with a structured curriculum and way for individuals to assess their performance and knowledge as they strive for their "horsy" goals.
COR is divided into 3 divisions: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Intermediate, each recognized by a different color. Within each division are 3 levels: Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3. Within each level is a set of riding skills the students must master. In addition, information in the form of worksheets and articles will be provided about horsemanship- proper horse grooming, saddle anatomy and horse anatomy. Several times a year students will have an opportunity to test their riding skills and horsemanship knowledge. Upon successful completion of their appropriate tests--written and riding--a personalized colored saddle pad of the next COR level will be rewarded. Testing will be conducted by an independent judge to eliminate bias in the testing process.
Learning to ride in not difficult . With the guidance of an experienced trainer, the right riding facilities, and suitable horses, you can progress quickly and safely. The professional team at Room To Ride has designed a riding program that promotes the confidence of each rider while challenging the students to master and develop new riding skills. With knowledge and expertise, we will accommodate each rider’s level and give him/her the confidence and skills to reach his/her riding goals.
